(NASHVILLE) – “I am disappointed to hear the news that GM has chosen to abandon the people of Maury County. The plant here is one of the most modern car manufacturing facilities in the country, and to me their decision to leave the heartland of Tennessee is not financially sound.

On a personal level, I’m heartbroken for the over 3,000 autoworkers and their families here in Maury County. These people have given their all to General Motors, through both good times and bad, and now are left with nothing but questions.

However, I am confident there are companies around the world taking a good, hard look at our facilities and I am committed to doing everything I can to bring those corporations here so that we can put these hard working Tennesseans back to work.”
