STATE REPRESENTATIVE TY COBB SELECTED FOR 2009 EMERGING POLITICAL LEADERS PROGRAM Classes designed to give new legislators opportunity to learn from leaders across the country
(NASHVILLE) - On Thursday, State Representatives Ty Cobb (D-Columbia) announced his selection to participate in the 2009 Emerging Political Leaders Program at the University of Virginia.
“It is such an honor to be chosen to learn from some of the best and brightest this country has to offer when it comes to government and I look forward to bringing the lessons I learn back to Tennessee,” said Cobb.
The Emerging Leaders Program is a collaborative effort of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the University of Virginia. Only 50 legislators from 31 states will come together to discuss state government and work to develop new ideas for future state legislation.
“Every state has a unique system of government that deals with similar issues like school funding, economic stimulus and business development,” said Cobb. “This program will allow us to share ideas from around the country and learn from each other and hopefully gain new perspectives on some of our tougher issues.”
The program is slated to take place later this summer at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Administration. To learn more about the program, please contact Press Secretary Addison Pate at (615) 741-6620 or online at addison.pate@capitol.tn.gov.
